The Absolutely True Diary of a Part-time Indian

This hilarious Sherman Alexie book is written for young adults. The main character Junior likes to draw cartoons so the book is full of illustrations. His various medical problems have made him the favorite target of the many bullies on the Spokane Indian reservation. Determined to get a good education, Junior leaves the rez to attend an all-white school in a small farming community.

This is a example of a book display for Adolescent Literature. I invite my students to post theirs here on the Ning.

As Me No Questions by Marina Budhos

I'm currently reading this young adult novel about a family of illegal immigrants from Bangladesh. Some of my adolescent lit students are creating podcast of their booktalks. Once I figure out the technology, I plan to give it a try too.

Diane,
Hi, I'm Lisa Coyle, and I'm registered for the summer YA Lit class. I'm not the world's fastest reader, so I was wondering if I could get a required reading list for the class now in order to take advantage of the couple weeks between spring and summer semesters.

I wasn't sure how to contact you (Laura Summers mentioned that you belong to the Ning). I hope this type of contact isn't a "faux pas."

Maybe the 25th? Wed. are really the only day I don't have meetings after school, so I can take off a little early.
