I love the idea of skyping an author. I think we've tapped out our local children's authors and can't swing the travel expenses for an out-of-state author. Skyping would be a great way to introduce the children to a very cool technology/communicatio…
Awesom ideas!
Long Term/Low Cost
Birthday Book Club - At the beginning of the year, the librarian sends out a letter explaining that one way to increase the collection and emphasize literacy is to participate in the Birthday Book Club. Parents sign…
That's a really good question. Some books I've recently ordered just came out with CDs as opposed to cassette tapes. I've always had book/tape combinations in bags for checkouts, but haven't decided yet whether to put these in regular circualtion or…
In the past we have separated the cd from the book, and added it on the prof shelf where, as you say, it became 'lost' forever. Now we keep the unit as a whole.
For those of you already working a library, I have a cataloging/circulation question. When you get a book that has a CD read aloud, or a Clip Art CD-ROM, what do you do with it? We have been taking it out of the book, cataloging as a separate item,…
Rae,
This is a fantastic idea! I love that your school promotes alternate transportation (or maybe it's more the community) to and from school. I absolutely adore your idea to teach street names, directions and map navigation to the kids. It is so…

Just checking for discussions, got it linked to facebook now
Hey Rae,
Here is a link to some of my husband's blogs on social media. The 3rd one down about Facebook has some pretty good tips if you click to read the whole article.

No apologies needed for the name: Yesterday it read Janet Rae Ciciora, but since I go by Rae, I changed it last night to read Rae. So your vision is fine, the timing was just funny.
So far, Facebook is just another thing to check, and nothing's hap…
I'm mom of two teenagers, wife of a wonderfully nerdy child-at-heart, paraeducator at an elementary school, grad student at University of Colorado Denver.
The other day I wrote in dry erase marker on the kids' bathroom mirror: "I can't do it all!" Then I listed all that I do - cook, maid, waiter, busboy, taxi, social planner, laundress, referee, mediator, nurse, therapist, disciplinarian, garbage man, recycler, lawn maintenance, gardener, snow shoveler, interior decorator, pet caretaker, ATM
-- the list goes on and on! Do you know, the message got erased and neither kid said a thing!
Hobbies
I enjoy gardening, reef aquarium, READING!
Current position and employment location
