"Great ideas.  Things like Read Across America are good places for us to build our  literacy work. I love the ideas of book clubs and book talks by staff members.  This shows students that all of us are about literacy."

Read-a-thon is a great idea..  Low cost, high involvement and a chance for great public relations activities.  Local papers should love it.

Profile Information

About Me:
I have taught middle school for 10 years. I have a passion for teaching my students to love reading and accessing information that is appealing to them. Although I am currently teaching math, I have an extensive classroom library and incorporate as many strategies into my room to create life long learners. I actually started a masters degree 5 years ago in administration and quit after 3 courses. I have been looking for an area that I am passionate about and want to really investigate in the future. After talking with the teacher librarian at my local school I became obsessed with wanting to know more...so here I am!
Hobbies
I love cooking, eating, camping, gardening, reading, hiking, and spending time with my husband.
Current position and employment location
I am a middle school math teacher in Fruita, Colorado.
Favorite Book:
The Giver by Lois Lowry
Favorite Library:
Fruita branch of the Mesa County Public Library
What professional development topics are you interested in learning more about?
I am interested in learning more about how to integrate technology into classrooms.
