Buena Vista Elementary School Field Experience

I completed my field study at Buena Vista Elementary School, a public Montessori program.  I loved seeing the engagement and excitement of the students.  I had never worked with elementary kids before so this was an eye opening experience!  I loved reading out loud to this age group and helping them find books.  They are eager and excited in all they do, so it was a true pleasure to be a part of that.  I have never read aloud to a group of kids who were so interested!  I was also pleased with…See More

Primary Sources- Natural Disaster Research

I really enjoyed working with the 6th grade GT classes to identify primary sources and use databases in research.  The kids did a good job using the databases, considering this is the first time for most of them.  It was difficult to convince them not to go straight to Google!

Practical Technology

I just started Integrating Technology in School Libraries, one of the required courses for my MA in School Library and I must say that I have been dreading this class. I am very comfortable with certain technologies but much of the current internet technologies are intimidating to me. I just finished a training at my school for our new website and we spent some time making our new webpage, creating a blog site, and experimenting with podcasts! I never knew it would be so fun or offer so many… Continue

Chapter 3 Response

I liked the way the beginning of the chapter outlined the goals of a media specialist. I thought it was a concise but effective list of the responsibility a media specialist has for the collection.
