I am really enjoying learning about all of these new tools. But I am having a hard time sorting out which one I would use in what setting/situation. If you are currently using these tools, please help me out! When would you use a ning, blog, or wiki and why is one better than the other for a certain application?
Also.... which ones do you use with your LMC website?

Excellent question. Unfortunately, I do not have an answer for you but I can not wait to read what others write, Thanks for asking and know that you are not alone. I think that all this apllications sound great but seem to overlap in my mind.
I am having the same sorting issue as you! Great question! I think I'd like to use a blog for book groups and to share library information. I think I would like to use a wiki to create lists of websites and articles for kids to access when researching certain topics. Other than that, I'm not sure how to use it all! I look forward to seeing what others write!
I agree with you, it is information overload! I think you should pick one or two tools that are of interest to you, learn them really well, and apply them to your school setting as not to get bogged down using all of the tools. Although I am currently not in a school I can visualize many ways to use these new tools. I love the idea of adding a "face" to a library website with a blog. Having your policies, a style/reference guide, and rules on a website is great but a blog can add a little personality to your site. I can see using a wiki with collaboration with classroom teachers- especially when it comes to planning together, which can be hard to find the time with parent meetings, grading, etc... filling teacher's spare time. This way you could plan together, but not necessarily at the same time. And I love the LibraryThing.com site for recommendations of books- this is great for students to check if they are in the library and the librarian is busy- they can answer the questions "what should I read next" so easily for themselves!
